Inside the Commons Club at Virgin Hotels New Orleans
The new Virgin Hotels New Orleans is offering an early look at its restaurant, bar and lounge as it prepares to open later this summer.
Commons Club is led by Chef Alex Harrell, who previously led kitchens at Angeline and Elysian Bar. The menu includes contemporary Southern seasonal cuisine with Mediterranean influences, a news release said.
Small, medium and large plates will be offered, along with dishes such as bluefin tuna crudo, grilled okra and sourdough cavatelli.
Cocktails include the “Dragon Smoke” – Montelobos Mezcal Joven, Conzano 1757 Rosso, rosemary-infused Campari, orange bitters and a flamed orange swath.
The ground-floor space is designed to feel like a “modern social club in a playful, sophisticated environment,” the release said. There is a dining room as well as a communal Chef’s Table surrounding the open kitchen, indoor “porch” seating and private dining rooms. Commons Club also is available for private events.
Another space called “The Shag Room” has a living-style atmosphere with colorful furniture, a smokey mirrored ceiling, equestrian decoupage wallpaper and locally-curated New Orleans art.
Located at 550 Baronne St., Virgin Hotels New Orleans is taking its first reservations for Labor Day weekend.
